H.E.R.O.E.S. aims to reduce the number of students who engage in high-risk drinking through education on responsible drinking.
Why It's Important
- Drinking one night can impair the bodily functioning for up to three days, two nights of drinking can impair bodily functions up to five days. In an academic lifestyle, a whole week of concentration and focus can be sacrificed.
- It's important to be able to identify the signs of alcohol poisoning and know how to respond.
What are the H.E.R.O.E.S. Doing?
We create a variety of workshops and presentations to inform students about how to stay safe at parties, what to do if someone has alcohol poisoning and many other tips about drinking responsibly. Our most notable outreach on this topic is the Alcohol Presentations that we give to all first-year students living on campus during their first day on campus. Through this outreach to first-year students at a critical time in their college career, we aim to make a positive difference in their experience with alcohol during their entire college career.
